All Motorcyclists Should Know About This Helmet Issue

Florida is the perfect place to hit the open road on a motorcycle, and more and more riders are gracing the streets. Why? There are a lot of reasons why this is such as the weather is typically great, you can't beat the scenery, and not many things are more exhilarating than being on two wheels instead of four. A person would be hard pressed not to see one of the vehicles on the roadways during the day or at night. Research from Statista shows that 582,648 motorcycles were registered in the Sun Shine State in 2016 alone. Of course, these numbers don't include out-of-state visitors or bikes that aren't legal. Plus, it is almost 2019, so the figures have surely grown by now. With so many two-wheelers and trikes in the area, an accident is likely to happen from time to time. Unfortunately, the collisions are not kind to the motorcyclists. The vehicle does not have a roof or doors for protection. Nor, does it usually have safety features like airbags or seat belts. Hence, the driver and passengers get thrown to the ground or into the side or on top of the other car. Injuries that these people sustain often include but are not limited to... • Loss Of Life • Broken And Fractured Bones • Herniated Or Compressed Spinal Discs • Traumatic Brain Injuries • Loss Of Limbs

Florida Events And Functions

For those that believe there are not that many bikes on the roads here, just take a peek at some of these gatherings scheduled for December. They are not like the television shows depict with people drinking heavily and fighting. Rather, most of the functions are for a good cause. For instance, Bruce Rossmeyer's Daytona Harley-Davidson is hosting the Hog Wild Charity Chili Cook-Off on December 8, which benefits the American Cancer Society. Meanwhile, on December 23, Adamec Harley-Davidson (Saint Augustine, FL) has the free annual family even scheduled, Photos with Santa. Things like these show that there are still lots of bikes going to be on the roads in the state and even with the weather turning chilly. Most riders buy the highest quality equipment available to help them remain safe while operating their bikes. Many times, helmets, vests, boots, and more take the brunt of the impact. Thus, the cyclists sustain fewer injuries than they would if they were wearing nothing at all. However, what about when that equipment fails?

Without Further Delay, The Recall

Silverstone Associates, LLC, is expected to begin recalling a potential 5,100 Ride Eazy DOT Sleek helmets on December 7, 2018. The affected units are of the sizes medium and extra-large. Apparently, the helmet can detach or come loose from the person's head altogether. Therefore, they do not meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets." This headgear enhances the wearer's risk of becoming injured during a crash. The company is supposed to notify owners directly, but interested parties should feel free to contact the Silverstone customer service department at 1-410-696-7180 to obtain more info.

Should You Hire An Attorney? If you or a loved one have sustained injuries due to the negligence of a driver, manufacturer, or someone else, you may be entitled to a fair amount of compensation for the damages. Proving fault in such cases is easier said than done though, particularly when large corporations are involved. They tend to have legal teams on standby just waiting for an opportunity to arise so that they can discredit the claim. The firms will even go as far as to try and shift blame to the victim. It is all about the money and preventing their client from shelling out a substantial sum. So, contact us for a free case review today and discover your legal options. The team will fight tooth and nail to build a case and recover the compensation that you deserve.
