Not All Lawyers Will Take You To Trial

Not all law firms created equal, and even when you have a legal practice that specializes in handling personal injury cases, sometimes the staff at these firms aren’t interested in actually representing the rights of their client, so much as they are at arriving at a quick settlement. The St. Pete lawyer is not one of those firms. But why do these firms exist, and what is their motivation for acting against their client’s best interest?

Working For The Payout

One of the things that needs to be understood about the income of a law firm that handles personal injury cases is that in most instances, you, as a client, will not actually be the source of payment or “salary” for the lawyer that takes on your case.

In most conventional personal injury cases, an attorney’s final fee is going to be a percentage of whatever amount that lawyer manages to negotiate for the client. This includes both a final resolution in court for winning a personal injury case, as well as whatever settlements are agreed upon in out of court arrangements.

Doing The Math

Unfortunately, for some lawyers, this means that the fastest way to make a reliable stream of constant, incoming money is to take the stance of advocating for a client to accept an out of court settlement as quickly as possible. This is usually not beneficial to the client since the initial offers that most insurance companies will make will be dramatically lower than what could be realized in a court case, which is one of the reasons why out of court settlements are so popular with insurance companies.

While not an ideal amount for a client, less scrupulous lawyers, taking a cold, hard, look at a constant, reliable source of income find that in many cases, it’s simply easier to play along with insurance companies and provide the kind of bad guidance that can quickly resolve a case with a lower amount of money for the client. More importantly, however, this type of cooperative personal injury lawyer builds a relationship with the insurance companies, which means that they are far more likely to get tips or jobs from these insurance companies to meet yet another client, pretend to act in their interests, and settle out of court for yet another low amount.

Get Counsel That Believes In You

The St. Pete Lawyer is not one of these types of law firms. We believe in our clients, and, more importantly, we believe in the judicial process and taking a case all the way to trial to win it for our clients. When you are injured, especially if that injury is serious or permanent, this is going to have a huge impact on your life. Money can’t fix everything that such an injury does to a person, but it can ease many burdens that don’t have to be there. And we believe in lifting those burdens so that people in recovery get a fair chance to try and have a decent life again.
